HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR SECURITY GUARD EMPLOYEE REGISTRATION (Guard Card)

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE TRANSCEND INC. 8-HOUR CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION ($160.00)

The law requires applicants to successfully complete eight (8) hours of classroom instruction and pass a written test conducted by a Board approved provider. Transcend Inc. is Hawaii’s premier provider of Board Approved Security Guard Instruction. We provide the necessary State of Hawaii forms and detailed information on the registration process and fees. After successful completion of the classroom instruction and test, Transcend Inc. will issue a Certificate of Instruction approved by the State of Hawaii for guard employee registration.  Our current class fee is $160.00

STEP 2. FINGERPRINTS BASED CRIMINAL CONVICTION HISTORY CHECK ($50.00-$65.00)

A fingerprint based criminal conviction check is required. Transcend Inc. does not do the fingerprinting; that is done by a company called “Fieldprint”.  Fieldprint will charge their current fees, which change from time to time,  for their service and the background checks. The fingerprint collection sites will not take walk-ins or accept payment on-site, therefore you must make an appointment and pay the fingerprint fee on-line in advance. To make a fingerprinting appointment go to www.Fieldprinthawaii.com. You do not have to wait for the results, the background check is sent to the DCCA.  Fieldprint sets their own fees which generally range from about $50.00 to $65.00.  Transcend Inc. has no control of the fees charged by Fieldprint  We will provide information on the fingerprinting process.

STEP 3. SUBMIT A GUARD EMPLOYEE REGISTRATION APPLICATION & FEES ($116.00)

The final step is to submit a Guard Employee Registration application to the Board. This can be done online (see information under the Helpful Info tab) or by paper form. We will make the paper form available at our class for those who choose not to submit online. The following is needed along with the form; make sure that all names on all documents in the application package match:

1. Submit a copy of the Transcend Inc. Certificate of Instruction.
2. Attest (on the GDE form) to meeting the education requirement of high school or equivalent.
3. Pay the fees in effect at the time of application (currently $116.00), Payable to “DCCA“.
4. Provide any other documentation required; for example, because of a “Yes” answer to criminal conviction.

After successful processing the DCCA will issue a GDE Registration Number (guard card), usually within 15-20 business days.
