IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ EVERYTHING!
In order to participate in the online class you MUST have a computer with video, audio and microphone, an email address, and a good internet connection during the entire time of the class. You must also have a photo identification (driver’s license, State ID, passport, student ID, etc.) as we will use that to verify your identity at the class.
Please also be aware the required test will be done online during the class day using a site called Quizziz (joinmyquiz.com/pro). During the class session you will need to be able to go online to joinmyquiz.com/pro. You can use the computer you use for the class or a separate device including a smart phone. It will save time if you already have joinmyquiz.com/pro open when you join the class. During the class day “join codes” will be given to take quizz’s.
ONLINE CLASS RULES
Conduct yourself as if you were in a in-person classroom.
- You must be dressed appropriately.
- Be present the entire time.
- Give your full attention to the course of instruction.
The Instructor must be able to see your face during the class.
- The camera cannot be showing only a portion of your face or just the walls, ceiling, etc.
- If the Instructor cannot see your face, you will be asked to change the camera angle.
- If you do not comply or if more than one request needs to be given you may be expelled from the class.
- If that occurs your fee will be refunded, and you can register for another class.
You must be in a stationary location.
- Driving while online will be cause for immediate expulsion from the class; your class fee will be refunded.
- If you must go someplace, including as a passenger in a vehicle during the class, schedule for a different day when you can be at one place.
- You must be present in the classroom for the entire class.
- If on the day of class, you need to run errands, attend to children or other matters; re-schedule for a day when you can give your full attention to the class.
Be respectful of others.
- Disrespectful, disparaging, or insulting comments from participants whether directed at other participants or persons not present will not be tolerated and is cause for immediate expulsion from the class; your class fee will be refunded.
Dress appropriately.
- It is okay to dress casually and comfortably but remember you will be seen from about the waist up.
- Wear a shirt or appropriate top.
- Please do not wear shirts/tops/hats with provocative, political, obscene, or disrespectful words or images.
Sit upright.
- It’s okay to be in a comfortable chair or on a couch; however just as you would not recline or lay down in a traditional classroom do not be reclining/lying down on couch/bed/floor while in the online classroom.
Do not be on phone calls, texting, gaming, or talking with other people during the class time; even when on mute.
- Aside from being disrespectful to the Instructor and other students, this is an instructional class, you need to give your full attention.
- If noticed, you will be given a warning.
- If you do not comply you may be expelled from the class; your class fee will be refunded.
Don’t eat food during the class.
- It’s disrespectful to the Instructor and distracting to others to eat during class.
- Please be sure to give yourself enough time to eat before the class starts, or please wait for your breaks to eat.
- Drinking water, coffee, soda, etc. is okay.
We want you to be comfortable, and we also want you as well as everyone else who attends to get the full benefit of the class you and they paid for; so please treat this as if you are attending in a physical classroom.
TO HAVE THE BEST ONLINE EXPERIENCE
Please test your equipment and internet connection in advance so you do not delay everyone else while you figure out how to make things work. If you cannot get your camera, microphone, speakers to work a reasonable time you will be excused and asked to reschedule for a different class date.
Make sure you are in a distraction-free place. No T.V’s, radios, gaming, or other activities in the area. If your environment is distracting the Instructor may ask you to leave the online class.
- Adjust your video camera so the Instructor can clearly see you.
- Try not to be back-lit (bright light or window behind you) as that makes it hard to see you.
- Remember everyone in the session can see and hear you, anyone, and everything in your background.
- During breaks you can close the video & audio, but it’s best to stay online.
- If you need to take care of something urgent during the class, let the Instructor know so it can be dealt with appropriately.
FULL SERVICE OPTION STUDENTS – PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Full-Service Option is a great way to simplify applying for your guard card. That said, there are requirements that you will be responsible to meet. If you cannot meet these requirements let us know, we can re-enroll you as a regular student and refund the difference.
FOR US TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE TO YOU:
- You will need to stay online after the class so the Instructor or our Staff can assist you in scheduling your fingerprint appointment. This may take from a few minutes to an hour depending on how quickly you can complete the appointment form, and the number of full-service students being assisted.
- You will need to complete our authorization and information forms. We will send you a link to complete the forms online.
If you are presently suffering from a psychiatric or psychological disorder, you will need to provide the following:
- An explanation of the underlying facts and circumstances surrounding your psychiatric/psychological disorder and treatment.
- Letters from your treating licensed health care practitioner (e.g., psychologist, psychiatrist, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, adult psychiatric and mental health clinical nurse specialist) regarding the diagnosis, status of your psychiatric or psychological disorder, and assessment of your ability to work in the registered/licensed profession (principal guard, guard employee, principal detective).
- Letters of recommendation from your current employer regarding your reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to work as a guard employee.
If you have a professional, occupational, or vocational license that has been subject to complaints, charges of unlicensed activity, or pending disciplinary actions you must provide the following.:
- A detailed statement signed by you explaining the underlying circumstances; and
- Copies of any documents from the agency, including final orders, petitions, complaints, findings of fact and conclusions of law, and any other relevant documents.
If you have been convicted of a crime in any jurisdiction, no matter how far in the past, that has not been annulled or expunged by court order, you must provide the following:
- A detailed statement signed by you explaining the underlying circumstances leading to the conviction.
- A copy of all related court documents (i.e., indictments, judgments, guilty pleas, verdict, and terms of sentence) if applicable, proof of payment of fines.

If applicable, a copy of the terms of probation and/or parole and a statement from your probation or parole officer as to your compliance with the court orders (terms and conditions imposed including any court documentation evidencing completion
or discharge).
- Letters of recommendation from any physicians, counselors, and other members of the community (no relative) who can objectively attest in writing to a firm belief that you have been sufficiently rehabilitated to warrant the public’s trust.
- Letters of recommendation from your current employer regarding your reliability and trustworthiness to work as a guard employee.
You are responsible to provide the required documents to us in a timely manner. We cannot submit your GDE application until we receive the documents.
Keep in mind that your GDE application must be submitted within 30 days of your fingerprint date. If you do not complete our form, or provide the documents within 30 days of the fingerprint date, or do not get fingerprinted, we do not refund your fee.
If we are unable to submit your documents before your fingerprint expiration date, you will need to re-schedule and complete fingerprinting on your own at your own additional cost, then inform us of the new fingerprint date so we can submit your GDE application.
If you miss your fingerprint appointment, or cannot be fingerprinted because of lack of, or improper identification, or you are declined by Fieldprint, you will be responsbile to re-schedule your fingerprinting at your own additional cost.
We cannot guarantee that the state of Hawaii will accept your documents, or issue your GDE license. We do not issue a refund, in whole or in part, if the State does not issue your GDE license.
We do not pro-rate the payment if you pay for any of the services on your own.
Once we submit your GDE application, you are responsible to monitor for any communication about your application from the DCCA. If there is a deficiency (other than an input error on our part) or they require additional information or documentation you will be responsible to respond and provide the documents directly to the DCCA.
