The Premium Service Option Makes It Easy To Renew your Guard Card.

Guard Employee Registration Renewal (GDE license/guard card)

The Premium Service Fee is an optional service that includes the cost of the Security Guard Continuing Education class, submitting the GDE renewal application form to the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA), payment of the GDE license renewal fees to the DCCA, and our fee for providing these services.

BEFORE YOU SELECT THE PREMIUM SERVICE OPTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION

WHAT WILL THE TOTAL COST BE? The Class Fee, DCCA fees, and Service Fees total $260 + $12.25 GE tax (total: $272.25)

FOR US TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE TO YOU:

  • You will need to complete our authorization and information forms. We will send you a link to complete the forms online.
  • You will need to provide us access to your MYPVL account. Since the DCCA now uses multi-factor identification, we will need to contact you when we access your account.

If you are presently suffering from a psychiatric or psychological disorder, you will need to provide the following:

  • An explanation of the underlying facts and circumstances surrounding your psychiatric/psychological disorder and treatment.
  • Letters from your treating licensed health care practitioner (e.g., psychologist, psychiatrist, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, adult psychiatric and mental health clinical nurse specialist) regarding the diagnosis, status of your psychiatric or psychological disorder, and assessment of your ability to work in the registered/licensed profession (principal guard, guard employee, principal detective).
  • Letters of recommendation from your current employer regarding your reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to work as a guard employee.

If you have a professional, occupational, or vocational license that has been subject to complaints, charges of unlicensed activity, or pending disciplinary actions you must provide the following:

  1. A detailed statement signed by you explaining the underlying circumstances; and
  2. Copies of any documents from the agency, including final orders, petitions, complaints, findings of fact and conclusions of law, and any other relevant documents.

If you have been convicted of a crime in any jurisdiction after June 30, 2024, that has not been annulled or expunged by court order, you must provide the following:

  1. A detailed statement signed by you explaining the underlying circumstances leading to the conviction.
  2. A copy of all related court documents* (i.e., indictments, judgments, guilty pleas, verdict, and terms of sentence) if applicable, proof of payment of fines. If applicable, a copy of the terms of probation and/or parole and a statement from your probation or parole officer as to your compliance with the court orders (terms and conditions imposed including any court documentation evidencing completion or discharge).
  3. Letters of recommendation from any physicians, counselors, and other members of the community (no relative) who can objectively attest in writing to a firm belief that you have been sufficiently rehabilitated to warrant the public’s trust.
  4. Letters of recommendation from your current employer regarding your reliability and trustworthiness to work as a guard employee.

Please make sure you providee the required documents to us in a timely manner. We cannot submit your GDE renewal application until we receive the documents.

If we do not receive the completed forms more than 30 days after the class date or you do not provide us access to your MYPVL account by June 27, 2027,  your Premium Service will expire and you will need to complete the renewal process, including payment of any fees to the DCCA on your own. We do not issue a refund if your Premium Service expires. If you are unable to complete the forms within 30 days of the class date due to circumstances outside your control let us know, we may be able to offer an extension of time.

If there is any discrepancy or deferral that needs to be cleared with the DCCA/Board of Private Detectives and Guards in order to complete your renewal it will be your responsibility to address the issue directly with the DCCA/Board of Private Detectives and Guards.

We cannot guarantee that the State of Hawaii will accept your documents or renew your GDE license.

REFUND POLICY

Once we submit your GDE renewal application, our obligation is completed.

If your renewal application is denied by the DCCA we do not issue a refund since the fee will have already been paid to the DCCA. We  will issue a refund for the DCCA license renewal fee if the denial is because of an error on our part. We do not refund the class fee.

Once your renewal application is submitted, you are responsible for any communication about your application from the DCCA. If there is a deficiency (other than an input error on our part) or they require additional information or documentation you are responsible for responding and resolving the matter with DCCA.
