The Guard Card Renewal Deadline Is June 30, 2024.
ALL Guard Cards Must Renew Regardless of When Issued.
The Transcend Inc. 4-Hour Continuing Education for Guard Card Renewal has been designated by the State of Hawaii Board of Private Detectives and Guards to set the topics and standards for the 2024, GDE renewal.
RENEWAL PROCESS
If you were issued your guard card on or PRIOR to June 30, 2023, you are required to complete the 4-hour Security Guard Continuing Education (SGCE) course to renew your license. If you were issued your guard card on or AFTER July 01, 2023, completing the SGCE course is optional.
STEP 1 – REGISTER FOR THE 4-HOUR GUARD CARD RENEWAL CLASS
Register and attend the SGCE class prior to June 30, 2024. We suggest that the sooner you register for a class the better, waiting until the last minute may make it difficult to get into a class. Our Security Guard Continuing Education (SGCE) class fee is $100.00 + Hawaii GE tax (total: $104.71) , we also have a Premium Service option where we can submit the GDE Renewal Application for you if you wish.
TO REGISTER FOR A CLASS CLICK HERE OR GO TO “GUARD CARD RENEWAL CLASS” AT THE TOP NAVIGATION BAR.
STEP 2 – SUBMIT YOUR GDE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION TO THE DCCA-PVL
Once you have completed the class and are eligible to renew your license watch for the DCCA-PVL to open to receive renewal applications. We expect this will be in early May 2024.
At that time go into your MyPVL account or create one by following the instructions on the MyPVL website. Once in your account locate your GDE license number; you may need to follow instructions to link your license to your account. Once found or linked there will be an active “Renew” button next to the license number. Clicking on the button will take you to the online renewal application.
Answer the questions and make the renewal fee payment to the DCCA ($105.00) and submit. Provided there are no discrepancies or deferrals, your GDE license will be renewed until June 30, 2027, and you will be able to print out or save it as a digital image your new wallet card.
Make sure to save your Certificate of Instruction from completing the class as you may be subject to a random audit by the DCCA and producing the Certificate will verify that you meet the requirement.
